While T & J’s Fast Food Mart has been open for a few weeks, the convenience store held its official grand opening, and the city held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday to mark the occasion.

Members of the Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce were on site to congratulate Tami Musser, Cathy Usher and their crew on their hard work.

Once a Circle K, the store’s Lane Street location houses a brand new kitchen to cook up fresh food. By the time of the ceremony, there were already whole chickens on the rotisserie and a warmer packed full of fried chicken, sausages, and sandwiches. Samples of breakfast pizza and donuts were offered to the public.

Musser marveled over the ribbon cutting, saying, “It was very exciting… very exciting. We’re very grateful for everyone who has come out to support us today.”

She feels that the community’s recognition will be helpful to the business. “Yes, a great help,” she says. “And I want to be involved in the community, and with the people.

“We’re just excited to be here in this area, and I think that there’s a real need for it in this area. So, we’re just looking forward to giving back to the community, also, through fundraising and whatever we can do. It’s a good area, and we’re happy to be in this neighborhood.”

Both Musser and Usher expressed excitement about venturing into the business world as part of a two-woman operation, as more and more women-owned businesses are coming to the forefront in Bucyrus.

“We like that,” said Musser. “We’ve worked together before, and we work well together, and it’s very hard to find dependable help. Very hard. I can go home at night and rest assured that the business is still running with her being here.

“So that’s a plus,” she added.

Store hours at the 325 South Lane Street location are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
