Radio Board Operator/Producer

The North Central Ohio Media Group in Bucyrus, Ohio, has an immediate opening for a part-time Board Operator/Producer for its radio stations, Iconic Rock Q92.7 WQEL and Country Legends 1540/107.5 WBCO. This is an entry-level, but very important position.

Experience in broadcast equipment is a plus, but not required. Training will be provided for the best candidate.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to keeping quality programming on the air, engineering local shows and sportscasts, coordinating remote broadcasts, monitoring broadcast transmitters and related equipment, occasionally representing the company at promotional events, as well as following company and FCC guidelines. This position requires a tech-savvy individual whom can multi-task and trouble-shoot issues under pressure.

The ideal candidate is a reliable self-starter, has a willingness to learn and one whom strives for excellence. Must be available evenings and weekends.

News Reporter Internship

Location: Bucyrus, Ohio
Job Status: Paid/Part-time

Position Summary:

The North Central Ohio Media Group is seeking a motivated individual with a passion for the media world to intern in the group’s news department. This individual would report directly to the news director and assist in covering local news in and around Crawford County.

The intern will gain experience in online, broadcast and photo journalism and professional social media use.

Responsibilities may include but not be limited to coverage of boards of education, city councils and court and crime cases. Human-interest feature articles also may be assigned as needed.

Nights and weekends may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently studying journalism or a similar communications field at a two- or four-year university or a career-based educational center.
  • Basic knowledge of AP style.
  • Understanding of commonly used social media platforms.
  • Understanding of basic camera and smartphone functions.
