MARION-Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on July 17,  at approximately 4:11 PM on Pearl Street in the City of Marion.

The crash involved a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Brian Pritchard, 47, of Caledonia, and a 9-year-old male on a bicycle, of Marion. Mr. Pritchard and the boy were northbound on Pearl Street. The boy was on the right side of the street and Mr. Pritchard was overtaking. The bicyclist moved to the left and was struck by Mr. Pritchard. Mr. Pritchard lost control and struck a parked car.

Mr. Pritchard was treated at the scene by Marion City EMS. The bicyclist was transported to Marion General Hospital initially and then to Children’s Hospital in Columbus by helicopter for further treatment.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Marion Police Department, Marion Fire/EMS, and B & B Towing Service.

This crash remains under investigation.
