ATTICA—The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting of a Bloomville man and has arrested the suspected shooter in the incident.

Deputies received a 911 call on Friday from a man who had been shot in the back by a black male in a silver vehicle on Ohio 4, south of Attica.

The victim is former Bucyrus resident Dakota J. Conley, 25, who reported that he observed a silver car, no plates, parked on the side of the road on Ohio 4 just South and when he pulled up next to the car to see if the car was broken down, a black male rolled down his window and started shooting at him striking his vehicle as he sped away with one of the rounds striking him in the back through the car seat.

While talking with the victim, Seneca County Dispatch received another complaint of the silver vehicle parked on the side of the road at the same location on Ohio 4, south of Attica. Deputies arrived at the scene and discovered a black male still sitting in the driver seat of a 2011 silver, Hyundai.

Traffic was stopped in both directions and deputies executed a felony stop on the driver ordering him out of the vehicle at gunpoint and he was eventually placed into custody. Upon further investigation, Deputies discovered supporting evidence lying on the ground, just outside the driver’s side door incident to his arrest and upon conducting a cursory search of the vehicle, Deputies observed a pistol under the driver seat of the said vehicle. The vehicle was then secured and towed from the location to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office for further processing.

Arrested was Roshawn J. Miller, 22, Gahanna, for having a weapon under disability, a third-degree felony. Additional charges of attempted murder, felonious assault and improperly handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, are all pending upon the conclusion of the entire investigation.

“The investigation is presently ongoing, but the immediate response by all involved was instrumental to the success and outcome of this investigation. I can safely say that Seneca County is safer this evening with this man behind bars and that the victim’s injuries were not severe and he was treated and released from Tiffin Mercy Hospital,” said Seneca County Sheriff Fredrick Stevens said.
