Marion Troopers investigating a serious injury crash

MARION – Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on May 16, 2021, at approximately 4:11 PM at the intersection of State Route 47 and Gooding Road (County Road 126) in Prospect Township, Marion County.

The crash involved a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Sherry E. Krouse, age 62, of Marion, and a 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Michael K. Hatfield, age 39, of Cardington. Mr. Hatfield was traveling westbound on State Route 47. Ms.Krouse was traveling northbound on Gooding Road, failed to yield to the posted stop signs, entered the intersection, and was struck by the Harley Davidson. The Chevrolet traveled off the west side of Gooding Road and struck a guy wire.

Mr. Hatfield was flown from the scene by MedFlight to OSU Wexner Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Ms. Krouse was transported by Fort Morrow EMS to Marion General Hospital with minor injuries. Ms. Krouse’s right-front passenger, Jason Krouse, age 18, of Marion, Ohio, and two juvenile passengers were transported by Fort Morrow EMS to Marion General Hospital with no injuries.

The occupants of the Chevrolet were wearing their seatbelts. Mr. Hatfield was not wearing a helmet.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Battle Run Fire and EMS, Fort Morrow EMS, MedFlight, and Ed’s 24 Hour Service.

This crash remains under investigation.
