BUCYRUS—The winner of Tuesday’s general election for Crawford County Probate and Juvenile Court Judge is Patrick Murphy.

Murphy was appointed to the position after the death of Judge Steven Eckstein in March.

Murphy said he is thankful for everyone who has supported him in his temporary role as the judge and in his election campaign.

“I want to thank my wife, children, grandchildren and all those who have supported me,” said Murphy.

Murphy won the election for the position by 1,859 votes over Democratic candidate Deb Garverick of Galion.

“I wish the best for my opponent, she ran a worthy campaign,” said Murphy.

Garverick said while she is disappointed in the outcome of the election, she congratulates Murphy on his win.

“I wish him all the best over the next 6 years,” said Garverick.

Murphy said he plans to work hard and be the best advocate of the law he can be going forward.
