MARION—One day after Jason Warner, a Marion County Common Pleas Court Judge vowed not to resign, Crawford County Now has learned that the Supreme Court of Ohio announced on September 10th that Warner can no longer act as a Judge.
In Case announcements, under the category of “Miscellaneous Orders” the Supreme Court said (in part), “Jason D. Warner, is disqualified from acting as a judge pursuant to Gov. Jud. R. III (6)(A). He shall remain disqualified while any and all indictments filed in the Marion County Court of Common Pleas are pending and until further notice of this court.”
Warner, 50 and his wife Julia, 53 entered not guilty pleas to several felony charges as the result of a hit skip accident in Marion in June. The accident left a 19 year old male seriously injured. The victim was hospitalized and released the next day.
Warner is represented by Columbus attorney Samuel Shamansky. When interviewed by WSYX’s Tom Bosco after the Warner’s arraignment, Shamansky said Warner has no plans to resign. “Absolutlely not. Zero Plans. He’s Innocent. He pled not guilty for a reason.” Shamasky said.
Warner took a leave of absence amid growing community calls for his resignation. His caseload is currently being handled by the same visiting Judge that arraigned Warner and his wife on Tuesday. Judge Patricia Cosgrove of Summit County Common Pleas Court was appointed by the Ohio Supreme Court to try this case.
The call for Warner’s resignation includes the Marion County Republican Party Chairman, the Mayor of Marion, Scott Shertzer and Marion County Sheriff, Tim Bailey who was present for the arraignment.
