State Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Republic Man

Clinton Township – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post is currently investigating a one vehicle fatal crash that occurred today, April 26, 2024 at approximately 12:33 A.M.  The crash occurred on County Road 36 east of Township Road 1106, Clinton Township, Seneca County.

Daniel Vogelpohl, age 32, from Republic, Ohio was driving a 1999 red, Mercury Cougar southeast on E. County Road 36.  Mr. Vogelpohl failed to negotiate the left curve and went off the right side of the roadway striking several trees before catching on fire.

Mr. Vogelpohl was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.  Mr. Vogelpohl sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.  The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Tiffin Police Department, Tiffin EMS, Clinton Township Fire Department, Seneca County Coroner’s Office and Rush Repairs and Recovery.
