Tiffin Officer involved In Fatal Shooting

Tiffin, Ohio – May 3, 2024 – On May 3, 2024, in Tiffin, Ohio, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call concerning Blake R. Fleure, a 19-year-old resident of Tiffin.

The call reported that Fleure had inflicted self-harm by cutting his wrist while driving a red truck, with the license plate details provided to authorities. Concerned for Fleure’s well-being, both the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and the Tiffin Police initiated a search to locate him and offer assistance for his injuries.

At 11:55 a.m., a Tiffin Police Officer identified the red truck driven by Fleure and attempted a traffic stop to assess his condition on W. Perry St. near Franklin St.

Upon stopping, Fleure emerged from the vehicle brandishing a knife and advanced towards the Officer in an aggressive manner. Despite the Officer’s warnings to cease his actions, Fleure persisted in his threatening behavior, prompting the Officer to defend himself by firing two shots to neutralize the imminent danger.

Subsequent Officers arrived on the scene to administer immediate medical aid until Fleure could be transferred by Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital. Fleure later died due to his injuries while at the hospital.

The Officer involved in the incident was unharmed. At this time, the Officer’s identity is being withheld.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) has assumed responsibility for conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
