UPPER SANDUSKY — Eastbound travel once again is possible for motorists on U.S. 30 east of Upper Sandusky and east of the U.S. 30 and U.S. 23 interchange.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, an emergency culvert replacement project began after heavy rains washed out a culvert and earth beneath the eastbound lanes May 23.

According to ODOT, both lanes of U.S. 30 westbound are expected to close June 1 for six days.

The closure will occur as soon as possible, following the reopening of the ramp from U.S. 23 northbound which was closed for pavement repairs. Due to the uncertainty of safely replacing the culvert one lane at a time, both westbound lanes will close at the same time.

While the westbound route is closed, motorists will be detoured onto County Highway 330, just west of Bucyrus, back to U.S. 23/U.S. 30 at Upper Sandusky.

The project involves the removing of failed corrugated metal culvert and replacing it with a 78-inch concrete culvert. Kokosing Construction Co., Inc. of Columbus is the general contractor on the job.
