MARION/CRAWFORD/WYANDOT—On June 22, UWNCO Executive Director Amber Wertman announced that for the second year in a row and with just a few days left in the campaign year, the organization has reached 100% of their current Community Campaign goal. “It’s been very exciting to watch,” Wertman said. “We’ve been counting down the mile markers on our ‘road to bold impact,’ and our progress had stalled a little, but a final push from individual and corporate donors helped us make it to our destination.”

The overwhelming success of UWNCO’s first post-pandemic Designer Purse Bingo fundraising event also played a role in meeting the campaign goal. UWNCO Designer Purse Bingo has been a perennial favorite in Crawford and Marion, but this was the first time the event was hosted in Wyandot County with guests attending from throughout the tri-county region. With support from sponsors including Alluvial Private Wealth; POET Marion; Kimmel Corporation; Ohio Mutual Insurance Group; The Andersons; Inc.; Premier Bank; UIS Insurance & Investments; The First Citizens National Bank; Crossroads Original Designs; and Buckeye Collision Service, a delicious charcuterie spread from Cheers 2 You in Upper Sandusky, and a cadre of enthusiastic community volunteers, the event netted more than $15,000. “It was just an amazing evening,” said Leslie Schneider, UWNCO Resource Development Director. “It was great to see donors and friends from all three of the counties we serve together at one event having fun and being so generous.”

In addition to supporting UWNCO’s work in Crawford, Marion, & Wyandot counties, a portion of the proceeds from Designer Purse Bingo has been allocated to establish a United Way of North Central Ohio endowment fund with the Wyandot County Community Foundation, like existing funds at Community Foundation for Crawford County and Marion Community Foundation.

Meeting the annual goal means UWNCO will have sufficient allocations for continued funding of non-profit Bold Goal Community Impact projects and collaborations in the tri-county area. United Way of North Central Ohio is currently funding more than 50 programs working to fill the community with successful children, healthy families, and self-sufficient residents, and a fully funded Community Campaign means they can continue to add to this list of impact partners.
