The ’90s country line dancing craze became one of the biggest cultural movements of the decade, blending the energy of dancing with the massive popularity of country music. Fueled by hit songs like “Achy Breaky Heart” and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” line dancing brought people of all ages to the dance floor with routines that were fun, easy to learn, and impossible to resist.

Television outlets like CMT and The Nashville Network helped spread the trend across the country, while bars, dance halls, county fairs, and community events turned it into a social experience that brought people together. Whether you were a seasoned dancer or stepping out for the first time, line dancing created a sense of fun, connection, and shared excitement.

Its influence stretched far beyond the dance floor, showing up in movies, commercials, and television shows and becoming a defining part of ’90s country culture. More than just a fad, line dancing helped shine a brighter spotlight on country music and changed the way artists connected with audiences during live shows.

Every Saturday night from 8p-10p over the summer, Country Legends, WBCO will offer two hours of songs that you can line dance to. Everything you can two-step with to line dances like “The Boot Scoot Boogie”, the “Watermelon Crawl” and the “Tush Push!”

If there is a song that you would like to hear, send us a request and we will do our best to add your request to the show!

Dust off your boots, grab your hat and get ready to dance this summer on Country Legends, WBCO!
